Our Week in Games – Week 54

Our Week in Games – Week 54

It is time for more of Our Week in Games as the football transfer window approaches last orders, the kids get ready to go back to school and the end of year big hitting games get ever closer to launch. That’s right, we are now in September, a month where we will see Rome II and Grand Theft Auto V launch. You can see the latest GTA trailer after the break before we get down to business.

Our Week in Games Special – Week 52

Our Week in Games Special – Week 52

It is the 52nd edition of Our Week in Games and this one is a bit special purely because it marks a years worth of doing this thing. While our first edition of Our Week in Games hit in July last year, we took some time out for Our Year in Games last December. Today though, we try to talk about a few different things to just what we have been playing last week, there are some good stories to be told this week. It was a struggle to choose an image to go at the top of this post, but it is fitting when you think about how this past year or so has gone. Enjoy.

Our Week in Games – Week 51

Our Week in Games – Week 51

On Friday I completed the purchase of a lovely two-bed flat in Cardiff. It has been a long process, dragging its heels since January, but in the week ahead I get to play Sims in my own home. Just maybe without the whole locking your enemy in a room with no doors, windows or food until the Reaper comes for them. I can’t wait, but in the meantime why not take a read of what Week 51 of Our Week in Games held in store.

The Last of Us – Not a Verdict

The Last of Us – Not a Verdict

The Last of Us may be a good game. Many have declared it the greatest game ever, others have commented on its setting, its superb voice acting and the brutality that drives the plot ever onwards. And, as is becoming a frequent occurrence these days, I have an opinion on it. This is not a review however, I have not finished the game and I quite possibly never will. But I want to at least throw my grain of salt onto the scales of greatness and have my voice counted, even though it’s clearly attempting to swim against the current…

I don’t like it.

Our Week in Games – Week 50

Our Week in Games – Week 50

It is a bit late in the day for this, but here we are once again for Our Week in Games. We are getting ever closer to Week 52 when we will have some special words to share about the past years worth of Our Week in Games. For now, Kevin is talking about his Steam backlog, Nick has ever more great Kerbal Space Program goodness and Jon has some choice words about spiders. All this, and more trucking in the 50th edition of Our Week in Games.

Lost In Space? An Idiot’s Guide to Kerbal Space Program

Lost In Space? An Idiot’s Guide to Kerbal Space Program

One of the main problems people have with Kerbal Space Program is getting over the initial learning curve. Navigating the constantly changing, three-dimensional nature of space is a complicated procedure, and it’s one I’m only just beginning to get the hang of.

Recently, I’ve started to hit a few personal goals in this game, so to celebrate my achievements I thought I’d share my findings with other beginners who are keen to follow in my footsteps. It is my hope that this guide will provide a useful reference for anyone struggling to find their way past the steep learning curve of this unique space simulator. I suggest bookmarking this page or having it open on a second monitor while you play for immediate reference.

The Eternal Kerbal Space Program Conundrum

The Eternal Kerbal Space Program Conundrum

After Nick managed to successfully land a Kerbal on Duna I asked him if he was going to be able to get them home again. Nick informed me with a heavy heart that this brave Kerbal wouldn’t be coming home this time. My lack of expertise with the way of Kerbal Space Program shone through when I suggested Nick just add a return module next time. Nick’s response was telling and perfectly sums up the conundrum of this game.

“Another module means more fuel.
More fuel means more mass.
More mass means more thrust.
More thrust means more engines.
More engines mean more modules.
More modules means more fuel…

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I’M DOING!!!!

Our Week in Games – Week 49

Our Week in Games – Week 49

Another week goes by and we get ever closer to the one year mark of Our Week in Games, time sure has gone by quite quickly since then. I think one of my favourite ongoing parts of Our Week in Games has been Nick’s tales of his adventures in Kerbal Space Program, they have been thoroughly enjoyable. We’ll have a proper look back over the past year when we hit Week 52. For now, hit the break for some trucking…

One Man And His Steam Backlog – Part 3

One Man And His Steam Backlog – Part 3

So it’s been a while since I updated on my backlog clearing progress… and that’s because there hasn’t really been any. In fact, I have most definitely taken backwards steps. Thanks to the closure of a nearby Blockbuster store and my occasional self control issues when it comes to buying games during Steam sales, I have now added a fair few titles to the list.
