Valve have proven to be very busy over the past few weeks with various new Steam features entering Beta and even the opening of a new studio in San Francisco. First though, we will go back to the end of November with the third round of Steam Greenlight approvals. Hit the jump for the low-down.
Chaos On Deponia is the second part of Daedalic Entertainments point and click adventure trilogy. It sees the return of Rufus as he attempts yet again, to make his way to Elysium and stop the Argonons from destroying the junk planet of Deponia. The problem is that Rufus is a magnet for pandemonium and makes his task infinitely harder by simply being himself.
Rufus longs to leave the junkyards of Deponia, he longs for a better life in an unknown land, filled with riches and luxury. But most of all, he longs to get away from his nagging ex-girlfriend Toni and the town of Kuvaq where he has become known, for some very good reasons, as the local idiot. Brimming with witty humour, a beautiful art style and some extremely tricky puzzles, Deponia is not a game for the defeatists. Before playing this game make sure you have firmly rammed your thinking cap on your head, glued it down and stapled it on just for safe measure.
‘Next-Gen’ is a term that’s being thrown around quite loosely at the moment. Everything from next-gen consoles, to next-gen graphics and next-gen gaming accessories are hot topics of discussion and speculation right now. But forget hype, advertisement and what developers are saying. What does next-gen really mean to the gamers of this generation? What advancements and improvements would they like to see in the next instalment of consoles and PC’s to hit the market? As previously promised, but four weeks later than expected, Steam has now added a collection of non-game programs all of which have a creative bent.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 is very nearly here with UK publisher Excalibur revealing today on Facebook that they will be releasing the game on October 26th for UK retail. However, if you are very keen, developers SCS Software have confirmed that they will be in a position to release the game digitally on the 19th of October. I for one and getting pretty excited for this, it isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, but this series has slowly created a little place of its own in my heart.

Valve have announced the first batch of games to be launched on Steam via their new Greenlight service. These ten titles (including Black Mesa and Towns) have picked up strong support from the community and will be available on Steam in the coming months.
Black Mesa, for those who are unaware, is a fan made third party mod that aims to overhaul Valve’s original Half Life game. The 40 man development team say they wish to “create a more engrossing in-game world with more varied, complex environments and more challenging, realistic gameplay”. But Black Mesa is not just a mod for Half Life it’s a total recreation of the game using Valve’s very own Source engine, which makes it even more of an accomplishment…
