The Reticule (Not at) E3 – Bioware and the Future of RPGS

The Reticule (Not at) E3 – Bioware and the Future of RPGS

Today The Reticule’s (not at) E3 Speculate-athon comes to an end as I take a look at Bioware’s sacrifices to the great gods of hype. With the possible exception of Robot Chicken Reggie at Nintendo Direct, Bioware’s trailers, demos and interviews stoked my excitement glands to the point where I’m considering actually investing in a PC capable of playing their games.

The Reticule (Not at) E3 – Rainbow Six: Siege and Dead Island 2

While E3 has come to an end, and many a British journalist is facing a long-slog home to face the jet-lag, we here at The Reticule are still going to have some thoughts to share on what was revealed in Los Angeles. Right now I want to take a moment to talk briefly about two games which unexpectedly caught my attention, Rainbow Six: Siege and Dead Island 2.

The Reticule (Not at) E3 Roundup – Batman, Sims and Abzu

The Reticule (Not at) E3 Roundup – Batman, Sims and Abzu

I’ve always found E3 to be a peculiar beast and I still question it’s relevance given the internet’s always on, always now capabilities, but I guess you’ve got to give the PR guys ‘n’ gals a day out occasionally. That said, there were a few titles that immediately piqued my interest. Check them out after the break.

The Reticule (Not At) E3 – Nintendo Video Blowout

The Reticule (Not At) E3 – Nintendo Video Blowout

We might not be over in Los Angeles enjoying the E3 high-life, meeting and greeting or playing millions of unreleased games…instead we are here at Reticule Towers deciding to occasionally throw out a morsel of E3 goodness to our baying masses whenever we find something worth talking about. Or we are simply going to embed a bunch of trailers of games we find interesting before sharing some thoughts towards the end of the week.

Hopefully that explains what this is, so hit the jump for some Nintendo goodies.

Editor’s Blog – Nintendo Returning To Form With The Wii U?

Editor’s Blog – Nintendo Returning To Form With The Wii U?

It has been a rough 18 months for Nintendo when it comes to the Wii U. Despite critical acclaim for titles like Super Mario 3D World and The Wonderful 101, sales of the machine have been more than sluggish with a user base that has stubbornly refused to grow. Some doom-mongers even feel that it will be the worst performing Nintendo machine since the GameCube. It certainly won’t be matching the dramatic highs of the Wii while the next-gen machines from Sony and Microsoft have enjoyed very successful launch periods.

Recent events show that all might not be lost for the Wii U, while it won’t ever see extraordinary sales figures, it might reach a respectable level. And of course, with E3 kicking off later today, Nintendo might pull something special out of the bag. Even if they don’t, I think we might see the Wii U establish itself a bit more this year.

Our Week in Games Special – Pre-E3 Thoughts

Our Week in Games Special – Pre-E3 Thoughts

My my, how time flies. This coming week brings us to another E3, the massive game trade show in the States where the big boys show off their big titles and try to spring a surprise or two on their rivals. In this weekends Our Week in Games, we turn our attention to this extravaganza and share some words on what we think might happen and what we are looking forward to.

Our Week in Games – Week 43 E3 Special

Our Week in Games – Week 43 E3 Special

The brave men and women who attended E3 are probably still lying in bed a quivering mess, struggling to comprehend the horrors of the show floor. Either that or they are planning when to lunge next at a gaming show. I’ll be testing out the lunge room at Rezzed next Sunday with Nick (come say hi!) and I might just report back on my findings. Though maybe not through video. Anyway, this is Our Week in Games, but with an E3 twist. What have we made of E3…read on.

E3 From the UK – Nintendo, I Still Want a Wii U

E3 From the UK – Nintendo, I Still Want a Wii U

E3 might be over, but that doesn’t meant our coverage is done and dusted as right here, right now, I take on the might of Nintendo. Unlike Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo didn’t hold a massive conference in Los Angeles, instead they delivered another Nintendo Direct presentation.

E3 From The UK – Three Open World Games Caught My Eye, Not Much Else

E3 From The UK – Three Open World Games Caught My Eye, Not Much Else

So, it’s that time of year again. All the big publishers are gathering together to shamelessly folg their wares. Huge budgets are spent on stands, promotions, booth-girls, advertising, outlandish props and the business-class fare’s of corporate heavy-weights who generally have zero business talking about games. Can’t help thinking that money could have been spent better on the game itself….But brushing that cynicism aside, lets see what caught my eye after the break.
