Our Week in Games – Week 23

Our Week in Games – Week 23

It had been a very snowy few days here in Britain, and especially in my hometown of Cardiff. I live just around the corner from work so I haven’t been able to escape into a full weekend of games. It is a Sunday though and that means just one thing here at Reticule Towers, the latest edition of Our Week in Games. Hit the jump to see what we I have been up to. (Everyone else is held up by snow – OWIG Ed)

Our Week in Games – Week 22

Anything much happen this past week in gaming? Oh I don’t know, how about Steambox’s, leaks of the Half-Life Alpha build and apparent screens from the MIA Return to Ravenholm from Arkane, the guys behind Dishonored. So just a little bit of action, but more important than any of that, this is Our Week in Games. Hit the jump to see what we have been up to.

Our Week in Games – Week 21

Our Week in Games is back right here at Reticule Towers after our little December break for the Our Year in Games pieces. It is a new year, but some things stay the same, and Our Week in Games is certainly one of them. First up I honour the NFL Wildcard Weekend by getting stuck into Madden 13 while Jordan talks about a zombie apocalypse and Nick explores space with an indie game that pays homage to the Homeworld series. The Reticule’s Games of the Year

The Reticule’s Games of the Year

The festive period is nearing an end, Christmas has been and gone and the new year is nearly upon us. Oh and the world didn’t end with that whole ‘Mayan Apocalypse’ which is good. Anyway, it is that time of the year when everyone talks about their various Game of the Year’s, but here at Reticule Towers we like to do things slightly different to normal. So rather than coming together to decide on one definitive Game of the Year, or going through various ambiguous genre based honours, a few of us here are just talking about our own ideas. We each have two titles which didn’t quite make it to being our own Game of the Year along with one game which earns that title. Bear in mind that Nick cheats a little bit with one of his choices, but why not hit the jump to see what we all thought.

Our Week Year in Games – Part Two

Our Week Year in Games – Part Two

Welcome to the second part of Our Year in Games series which is momentarily replacing the regular Our Week in Games feature until the new year. Last week we talked about some retro gaming, football management and adventuring in Skyrim. Hit the jump to see what else has been part of Our Year in Games.

Our Week Year in Games – Part One

Our Week Year in Games – Part One

The Sunday regular of Our Week in Games is being put on hold for a few weeks as the end of the year approaches. Instead, we are going to talk a little bit about Our Year in Games until Christmas when we will all talk about some of our Games of the Year.

It is worth noting that just because we talk about a game here, it doesn’t mean it will necessarily be part of our Games of the Year list. It certainly isn’t for me, so hit the jump to find out what some of us here at Reticule Towers have been getting up to this past year.

Our Week in Games – Week 17

Our Week in Games – Week 17

You know it is winter when a whole bunch of big games get released, which in turn means that I am now nearly broke already. I personally think that shoving so many games into this winter rush is a foolish practice as people can only afford a limited number of titles in such a short space of time. I think more AAA titles should be released in the spring and summer, if only to give people a chance to spread…

The Halloween Special

The Halloween Special

Happy Halloween folks! It’s that time of year again, when sensible people cower in fear behind their curtains and hide in terror, expecting every moment to hear that knock at the door, signalling the appearance of children demanding sugary treats in exchange for…just going away. Here at the Reticule, we love a bit of horror. I say love – personally, I have a tendency to hide in cupboards from it, and from the looks of his contribution below, so does Michael. Nevertheless,…

Our Week in Games – Week 15

Our Week in Games – Week 15

I’ve just had a quick glance at some photos from last night where I was dressed as Zombie Hulk Hogan and realised that Robert Florence is doing a wrestling show in Glasgow tonight which, when put together, makes me slightly excited for the release of WWE 13 this week. With the Attitude Era mode I am hoping it rocks a little bit more than previous titles have.

This past week has seen a lot of debate going on about an article the aforementioned Robert Florence wrote on Eurogamer. I’m not going to comment on specifics from that piece or fallout, but I would like to take this moment to clarify our position here at Reticule Towers. We are not influenced in how we judge games in our Verdicts by relationships with PRs/developers or by advertising. From here on, our Verdicts will clarify whether we bought the game ourselves or if it was supplied by a PR agency or the developer. With that out of the way, onto Our Week in Games. Before you hit the break, we will have a Halloween themed piece coming this week..spooky!

Dishonored – Our Thoughts

Dishonored – Our Thoughts

Dishonored is quite something, Chris loved it when he delivered his Verdict, but as one of the biggest titles of the year, and perhaps the biggest original IP of the year, it deserves to have more than just the one voice talking about it. After the break, you will find thoughts from a few of us here at Reticule Towers, enjoy.
