Leaving my personal cynicism aside for this big jubilee malarky going on here in the UK, this Sims 3 parody video from EA is quite amusing, and certainly gave me a chuckle as I retreat from the hellish heat of my garden. This kind of makes me want to play some more Sims, anyone else get that feeling when they see great videos from that game?
With the Giro d’Italia having just come to a finish this past weekend, the cycling world will soon turn its attention to the Tour de France…and the small matter of Pro Cycling Manager 2012 from Blood Bowl and Game of Thrones developers, Cyanide.
Two Tribes have announced, thanks to a post on their development blog, that they will be the first indie game company to allow players to share levels through the Steam Workshop. Toki Tori 2 will also be the first ever game of theirs to include a level editor and players will be able to edit and create new levels to share with the rest of the Steam community, much like Portal 2.
Rumour has it Diablo 3 and May Payne 3 were released a week ahead of schedule to try and get a headstart against the might of Historical Farming Simulator which came out Friday. In this new take on the farming simulator genre, you get to enjoy the golden days of farming with period equipment that was used between the 1950s and 70s. This must have summer blockbuster lets you play in the Northern Alps or Tuscany and features dynamic, real-time furrows, a first for agricultural simulators. What better way to enjoy this lovely weather than to check out this Game of the Year contender.
Cold, wet, and liable to explode into violence at a moments notice. But that’s enough about Hull. Far north of the tropical climates found in modern gaming, Naval War: Arctic Circle takes the intriguing concept of modern naval warfare and presents a complicated yet accessible simulation, stumbling just short of a fine execution.
Today, at around noon UTC, The Secret War came to an end. Over the past couple of months the Facebook-linked ‘social’ game has been teasing players with screenshots, item unlocks and early beta access to The Secret World, Funcom’s upcoming MMO of secret societies and monsters in the modern world. The game itself is pushed back from June 19th to Tuesday 3rd July. That’s a delay of two weeks, maths fans! Funcom explains this is ‘for market reasons’, to put…
Blizzard have kindly informed us that Diablo 3 is the new all-time best selling PC game of all time after selling 3.5 million copies within the first 24 hours of its release. On top of this, 1.2 million more people received a copy of the game as part of the World of Warcraft annual pass promotion. A bit of simple maths leads to the fantastic figure of 4.7 million gamers with access to the game at launch, a figure which…
After a number of server outages and sporadic connection issues faced by players of Blizzard’s click-and-kill opus Diablo 3, a new monster has raised it’s ugly head – the hacker. Over the past few days, Blizzard’s forums have been swamped by players claiming to have lost gold, items and characters. Even more worryingly, a number of those affected are claiming to have an authenticator attached to their accounts – a security measure that hypothetically renders an account unhackable by any normal means….
PAYDAY: The Heist and the Left 4 Dead series have a lot in common. Both are 4-player co-operative multiplayer games where players fight their way through endless hordes of enemies (police and security guards in the former, zombies in the latter) to complete objectives in linear scenarios. Both have a variety of ‘special’ enemies which require particular tactics to defeat. They have similar guns and tools and mechanics of all kinds. They were developed by companies which were each acquired…
