Enslaved Premium Edition – The Verdict

Enslaved Premium Edition – The Verdict

You don’t see many games get ported back to the PC these days, most titles are released on PC at the same time as the console version and are developed together our outsourced to a reliable team. It seemed to be something of an anomaly then when the Xbox 360 underground hit, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West got a Premium Edition release on Steam a few weeks ago. This is most certainly a bad old fashioned port of a game.

Our Week Generation in Games

Our Week Generation in Games

As I talked about in my Editor’s Blog yesterday, we are slap bang in the middle of a change in console generations with Sony and Microsoft launching their new hardware in the UK over the coming weeks. While last week we did a birthday special looking at the past five years in games, this week we take a look at what we have been playing this past generation.

Editor’s Blog – Chris on the Console Generations

The next generation of consoles is here at last, well at least it is the US with the PlayStation 4 going on sale yesterday. Over the next few weeks, us lucky Brits will see Sony’s machine and the Xbox One from Microsoft launch. I was in Game in Cardiff a few nights past and saw the new look shelves heralding the imminent arrival of the new machines.

It made me think about the generation which is now the old-gen. The humble Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are but things of a bygone era now. In reality they will still be fairly important to gamers and the industry for a year or so yet as people wait for the inevitable price cuts or a wider range of titles to launch.

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag – The Verdict

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag – The Verdict

Some people might wonder why I am delivering my Verdict of Black Flag when I haven’t even finished the game yet. If someone asked me that question I would reply by saying something along the lines of “I have played enough of if to pass judgement on whether it is a good game, and if I would be happy to buy it.” Without further ado, why not hit the break and find out what I have made of the game after around 12 hours or so with it.

Grand Theft Auto V – The Verdict

Grand Theft Auto V – The Verdict

For a moment when I first met Trevor in Grand Theft Auto V I thought I was going to be really turned away from a game which, until that point, hadn’t gripped me as much as I thought it would. Instead, the game opened up to a much greater extent than I thought it would and I have really started to get into the rhythm of things. Earlier this month Kevin and I shared Our Thoughts on the game, and while I still haven’t finished it, I think I can deliver my Verdict.

Sixteen Minutes Fifty-Eight Seconds of Arkham Origins

Sixteen Minutes Fifty-Eight Seconds of Arkham Origins

My first look at Batman Arkham Origins came at Eurogamer back in September and while I only had a brief go with it, it reminded me of just how much fun there was to be had with Bruce Wayne. It was that little experience which got me to start playing Arkham City once more…well until the plague that was Games for Windows Live got removed. I’ll have to start that one again.

After the break though you can find a near 17 minute gameplay walkthrough from the team at Warner Bros Montreal. It really is worth checking out.

Ubisoft Show off Their Love of Tattoos – Black Flag Trailer

Ubisoft Show off Their Love of Tattoos – Black Flag Trailer

There is a theme that I am starting to notice from Ubisoft with some of their biggest franchises, open world and tattoos. Far Cry 3 was all about the tattoos and judging by the latest trailer for Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, Captain Kenway has been given the same love of body art. There isn’t much new in this trailer, but it is being called the ‘TV Spot’, I’d rather call it the Tattoo Trailer. Find it after the break.

Our Week in Games – Week 59

Our Week in Games – Week 59

Last Sunday was Day 4 of the Eurogamer Expo, but I only managed to get an hour at the show which explains why there wasn’t a lowdown on Sunday night. There really wasn’t much to provide a lowdown on. It is another Sunday though and that means one thing…Our Week in Games.
