Far Cry 3 – E3 Teaser

I oft find myself decrying the use of announcements of announcements, and teaser trailers for game reveals. They seem so pointless…but then there is this Far Cry 3 trailer designed to build the anticipation for the Ubisoft press conference at E3, a trailer which in itself is brilliant and underlines why I think the game is going to be an all out smash. We are told we will ‘Experience the new reveal’ at E3 next week, I hope it matches the madness on offer in this tease.

Look at a list of biggest games of E3 this year and what do you see? Elder Scrolls V, Mass Effect 3, Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Killzone 3 and Uncharted 3 to name but a few. What do they all have in common? They are, of course, sequels in long running franchises. However does this signify lack of originality or is this simply the unique behavior of the gaming industry?

As E3 rumbles on we come to a point where the main conferences are over, yet the news keeps coming and at such a rate that to even attempt to keep track of it all is futile. There are trailers being released here, there and everywhere, new screenshots falling out of the sky, interviews appear like a plague of ants. It is information overload, and with the thousands of different magazines and websites covering the event, are you surprised?
