Indie games are indeed everywhere, they’re no longer confined to the PC landscape with the three console manufacturers all expanding their investment in the indie gaming scene. So the news that two indie hits are coming to the Switch shouldn’t be surprising, but when it is Behold the Kickmen and Yes, Your Grace, I feel the need to let the world know that soon they will be landing on the Switch.
I’ll start with Behold the Kickmen, the indie “football” darling that I gave the highest praise to in 2017 in this Red Mist Verdict. It’s a take on football that is deadly serious, and especially deadly in the Dystopian Future Bloodsport mode. There’s a story mode, goals, Goldkeepers, goals, squad management and more. I mean, what more do you want? Just watch the trailer and know that this comes out on the Switch the day before grim-dark zombie horror The Last of Us 2. You’ll be able to pick up a few copies of Kickmen for the same price as Naughty Dog’s latest, and I know where your money should go.
Behold the Kickmen: Ultimate Football Edition lands on the Nintendo eshop on the 18th June. It is currently available on Steam.
The second big bit of indie news is that Yes, Your Grace will be landing on the Switch (and Xbox One, but who cares about that?) on 26th June. I took a look at this one at EGX last year, but just haven’t found the time to pick it up on PC since it was released earlier this year. I described it as having an “an enchanting art style” with flavours of Game of Thrones and the Reigns titles, and could have happily played the EGX demo for much longer than I did. I was left with the cliffhanger of a wedding and potential assault on my kingdom, and will definitely be picking this up on the Switch to complete by royal journey.
Yes, Your Grace launches on Switch and Xbox One on the 26th June. It is currently available on Steam.
