This past week has seen the release of two massive games, one is cross-platform and cross-generation while the other is a first party exclusive. I am of course talking about Watch_Dogs and Mario Kart 8, detailed words on both will be forthcoming in the coming weeks. I do want to say that the Twitter reaction I’ve read so far has been decidedly more positive towards Nintendo’s racer than the Ubisoft open world hackathon. I’m certainly interested in reading more of what the team have to say aboutWatch_Dogs later this week in our group thoughts.

Somehow, in my preview of 2014 I managed to leave Watch Dogs of the list, though that does show the strength of some of the exciting games coming out this year. Despite it not quite making the list, I am still looking forward to the open-world hackathon from Ubisoft, even more now that is has a release date. The 27th May is that day, and Ubisoft released a new trailer to celebrate the announcement. Check it out below.

It takes something special to draw me away from Breaking Bad and this evening it is a 14 minute Watch Dogs open-world gameplay video. I’ll be honest that after my initial excitement for the game, I’ve totally lost track of it since E3, but this trailer has me interested once more. Hit the jump and take a look, it looks quite nice.
