New Company of Heroes 2 Screens Emerge

Gamescom brings out some really good things, one such thing is this batch of new screens for Company of Heroes 2. This is surely going to be one of the best RTS titles of recent years, even if you count League of Legends and DOTA as being RTS games at heart. I loved the original, and the Eastern Front setting for the new one has me giddy with excitement. Hit the jump to see all the screens, click on them to make them bigger.

Interview with Timo Gerken From Ubisoft About The Settlers Online

Interview with Timo Gerken From Ubisoft About The Settlers Online

Earlier in the year I gave my thoughts on the newly discovered Settlers Online. Since my first impressions article The Settlers Online has had its official retail launch and has gained considerable interest from all over the world. With the new-found popularity and new direction I thought it was about time we heard some more from TSO. I managed to pose my questions regarding the new direction for The Settlers to the friendly looking chap in the picture Timo Gerken, the ‘Worldwide Active Game Manager’ for Ubisoft.

Kevin – What made you want to bring The Settlers to a browser-based setting?

Timo – Looking at the current changes in the video game market, The Settlers Online was a logical step to expand The Settlers universe. Ubisoft is always looking for ways to reach new customers by expanding into new territories like the online market. This includes releasing strong Ubisoft brands such as The Settlers and Silent Hunter in the free-to-play arena.

Having not played a Settlers game for a good 10 or so years I was surprised and excited to see that there was an online version in development by Ubisoft and had to get into the beta to see what it was all about. See my thoughts and reactions after the jump.

Dawn of War II – The Last Standalone

Dawn of War II – The Last Standalone

News just reached us that THQ is releasing the Last Stand feature as found in Dawn of War II as a standalone downloadable game to cater to potential new players. The aptly named ‘Dawn of War II – Retribution – The Last Standalone’ allows new players to dive into the game by experiencing the popular Last Stand mode – no RTS experience necessary. Starcraft 2 – The Verdict

Starcraft 2 – The Verdict

Chances are that you already know if you’re going to like Starcraft 2. If you’ve played any of Blizzard’s games then you’ll pretty much know what to expect: an accessible if somewhat cheesy game with high production values and extensive multiplayer support. I could go into detail on the unit balances and the intricacies of battlenet, but those are not really important. In fact, the important parts of this game, really, are the multiplayer and the campaign, and I imagine…
