A Thief Launch Trailer Sneaks into View

A Thief Launch Trailer Sneaks into View

Something will be sneaking around gaming world next Friday, something dark and mysterious. It goes by the name Thief.

The reboot of the legendary series might not be out until next week, but there is already a launch trailer. I find it odd when launch trailers come out so far away from release, but that’s the way of the business. Hit the jump to see the trailer.

Our Week in Games – Week 70

Our Week in Games – Week 70

What’s happened this week in the gaming world? Oh yes, the beta for Titanfall has started, the conjecture on Twitter is that people have been going slightly mad trying to get access. Apparently some people have been buying codes on eBay for ludicrous prices. Valve took the brave step in allowing people to add tags to games which might have resulted in the expected nonsense. Meanwhile Kevin Spacey returned with House of Cards on Netflix which makes me wonder why can’t we get more games with episodic story-telling to equal The Walking Dead episodes?

Enough of that, on with the games.

Dark Souls 2: Hands-on Preview

Dark Souls 2: Hands-on Preview

I spent a good portion of the morning battling my way through hordes of unyielding, malevolent beings hell-bent on my destruction. Once I’d got through London though I arrived at BandaiNamcoUK’s office near Hammersmith for a 3 hour hands-on with an almost finished PS3 copy of Dark Souls 2.

I’ve got what I call a love-hate relationship with the first Dark Souls. I love the environment and the feel of the game, though I at times found the game to be far too unforgiving and wilfully obtuse. That said, it still wormed it’s way into my affection so I was quite excited at my chance for some hands-on time with the sequel.

Our Week in Games – Week 69

The latest outrage in the games industry lies with the rebirth of a seminal favourite, Dungeon Keeper. EA released a new mobile version of the game this months using the now commonplace free-to-play philosophy. Their free-to-play methods seem to have done down like a paid of concrete boots with gamers, even the BBC picked up on the outrage. I haven’t played this monstrous, evil game yet…but my impression of mobile games like this is that you flick on once or twice during a day and have a quick blast before switching to something else. If you play like that, surely the in-app purchases aren’t such a big deal? But maybe that is just me wanting to play devil’s advocate as usual.

On a less controversial note, why not hit the break to check out our latest version of Our Week in Games.

The Alien Returns

The Alien Returns

The Alien franchise has had a bit of a rocky recent past what with the poorly received Colonial Marines from last year and a downward spiral in the movies as well. Things might be taking a turn for the better though as Sega today announced Alien: Isolation to a string of rave previews all over the web.

Reading the tales those writers had from their short demo at developers the Creative Assembly had me in shivers earlier…
