New Star Trek Videos Explain Plot And Show Behind Scenes Footage

With the release of the new Star Trek game just a few days away, developers Digital Extremes have seen fit to release a couple of new videos. The first gives a little more insight into the actual plot of the game, the character backgrounds and the appearance of the Gorn. The second shows some behind the scenes footage of the actors recording their voice parts for the game.

Brian Miller, the chap in the video, has talked a lot about how authentic this Star Trek release will be. The same actors will be used to voice the game as were in the newest Star Trek films. The same composers will create music for the game, the same sound effects will be used and while this is all well and good it’s yet to be proven that this will create a good game for the players. Movie tie-ins have a bad history and while I would love for this game to change my viewpoint, I think I’ll wait until I try the final product before I make any solid decisions.

Shatner’s Era May Be Long Gorn But Star Trek Still Looks Great

Shatner’s Era May Be Long Gorn But Star Trek Still Looks Great

William Shatner’s battle with the Gorn in this trailer for the upcoming Star Trek game may not play out quite how I remembered it. Thankfully this doesn’t reflect in the small amount of footage also shown in the trailer. Kirk (now played by Chris Pine) can be seen fighting classic enemy the Gorn with a range of different phaser weapons and even in hand to hand combat. The new game wont be all action however, promises Brian Miller vice president of Paramount. Speaking at last years E3 he said “You will have elements of a shooter. You’ll have elements of exploration, and adventure, and discovery. That is what the new Star Trek is about.”

An added incentive to fans is that a large number of the original voice actors from the 2009 film have been signed up for the game. Releasing on April 26th Star Trek will be available on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
