I am a massive fan of the work that Paradox do, they release some really innovative titles, and while I may not love them all, their dedication to the PC market is heart-warming. They have had a busy week at Gamescom with two new game announcements and a couple of trailers for already revealed games. Hit the break for a quick rundown of what they have been showing off.
You know when a simulation game has made it big when it gets a Gamescom teaser trailer which you can see after the jump. With Farming Simulator 2011 selling 500,000 copies in France and Germany the 2013 edition has been picked up for publishing by French mega-publisher, Focus Home Interactive. The new edition will also be getting a console release along with the usual PC release. Exciting times for farming sim fans indeed.
Gamescom brings out some really good things, one such thing is this batch of new screens for Company of Heroes 2. This is surely going to be one of the best RTS titles of recent years, even if you count League of Legends and DOTA as being RTS games at heart. I loved the original, and the Eastern Front setting for the new one has me giddy with excitement. Hit the jump to see all the screens, click on them to make them bigger.
Mars: War Logs has been revealed today at Gamescom with this début trailer by French development team, Spiders. War Logs, due for release next year, is an RPG set on the Red Planet where you take control of Roy Temperance a century after a catastrophe sent the planet into chaos. There will be a real-time combat system, crafting and the chance to influence the fate of all the Mars colonies. Who knows whether it will be any good, but I am a sucker for games set on Mars so I will be keeping half an eye on this. Though I doubt it will quite match anything thrown up by NASA’s Curiosity rover currently exploring the Red Planet.
Ahh LEGO: Lord of the Rings you look so so good. This is a new trailer ahead Gamescom which is taking place this week in Cologne, and you should all watch this trailer and wonder what brilliant moments TT Games have been able to work into the game.
I have now gone from admitting that Gamescom is growing on me to flat out being able to say that I love Gamescom. Seriously, it is an event that has brought us that amazing trailer for the multiplayer side of the game, guns, jeeps, choppers and, most important, the jets.
God bless Gamescom, it is an event that is really growing on me. Trailers like this one for King Arthur II definitely get a nice little tick in the ‘yes please’ box. Seriously, just look at the swarming dragons, it is quite a delightful sight to behold.
Valve have released the first trailer for DOTA 2, and boy that certainly looks like a Valve game. The major tournament Valve are hosting at Gamescom is going to be getting under way this week, and that trailer has got my attention.
