Football Manager 2015 – The Verdict

Football Manager 2015 – The Verdict

I’ve been a long standing fan of the Football Manager series, stretching back to my debut with the games in their original Championship Manager incarnation. Each year, there is something of a debate about whether buying into the yearly releases is worthwhile. Most of the time, the answer is an easy “Yes”, but with Football Manager 2015, I find myself unsure of whether this edition is a must buy.

Our Week in Games – Week 80

Our Week in Games – Week 80

I was leisurely enjoying a day off on Friday when I saw the trailer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare which sparked my interest thanks to the stunning footage of Kevin ‘Frank Underwood’ Spacey sharing some fine words on war and politics. The video is captured from the Xbox One version of a game coming out this November, and it looks quite stunning. The title implies a new beginning for the series following the drag of the Modern Warfare sequence. I’m not expecting a world changing game at this stage of things, but it could be good.

Check out the trailer below and then read on for Our Week in Games.

Our Week in Games – Week 78

I was saved from scrambling to come up with an introduction with the announcement of Civilization: Beyond Earth which is coming this ‘Fall’ according to the American terminology. The spiritual successor to Alpha Centauri, perhaps the most highly praised 4X game is sure to attract a lot of attention before release, and fortunately PC Gamer have a massive interview with the team covering factions, the planet and more. Well worth a read while the first trailer can be found after the break along with our team’s contributions for Our Week in Games.

Football Manager 2014 – The Verdict

Football Manager 2014 – The Verdict

It took me a while to get into Football Manager 2014 this year, but once I did, everything fell into place. I think part of the problem was that this year the game is perhaps lacking the one stand out feature that is an easy focal point of the game.Recent seasons have seen additions like Dynamic League Reputation, the ability to add and remove leagues during a saved game and of course we saw the release last year of the Classic mode.

Football Manager 2014 – Improved News System Explained

One of the most important aspects of any Football Manager game is the news system where you are bombarded with thousands of messages every season. The news system has been totally revamped for FM 2014 as you can see in the video below, and it looks bloody gorgeous. Now I know this won’t appeal to everyone, but anyone who plays the game will know how important the news screen is. Check out the video blog from studio head Miles Jacobson below.

A Game of Thrones meets Football Manager – Part 3 – Major Improvement

A Game of Thrones meets Football Manager – Part 3 – Major Improvement

This is Chris Evans’ story about trying to make a custom database for Football Manager 2013 with a very strong hint of A Game of Thrones. This is the third part of his blog charting his progress.

Would I have started this project if I knew quite how much effort it would take to get it to the stage it is at right now? I most certainly would, it is going to be so rewarding to play a long-term game in the Game of Thrones-themed world that I have created within Football Manager 2013. It isn’t all the way there, I haven’t played in-game with this version of the custom file enough yet to make sure everything is working as intended, and I haven’t touched any team logos yet which is going to be something which I might struggle to sort out. Anyway, the latest update on where things are is as follows.
