Minecraft 360 – Impressions Of My First Twenty Minutes

Minecraft 360 – Impressions Of My First Twenty Minutes

I have just come back from spending twenty minutes with the just released Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition and I am pleased that I tried it. You see, I haven’t tried anything beyond the old browser based version of the game on the PC and I wasn’t overly keen on Terraria last Summer either. So to come away from a brief 20 minute play around with the tutorial, and to feel quite happy with what I played is a positive.

The Witcher 2 – (Nearly) A Year On

The Witcher 2 – (Nearly) A Year On

The Witcher 2 has been out on the PC for nearly a year now (May 17th 2011 was the release date) and the game has come a long way since the initial release with big updates coming in September last year with the 2.0 release and last week the Enhanced Edition was released at the same time as the very well received Xbox 360 version. When I originally played The Witcher 2 at release last year, I was impressed by what the game was attempting, but I was left aghast at the difficulty of the Prologue and a poor hints and tips system which left me unsure how to use traps and bombs and little understanding of the different spells Geralt can cast. Nearly a year on and my experience of the first few hours is now much more enjoyable. Early game spoilers after the jump.

Crysis 3 Announced – Release 2013

Crysis 3 Announced – Release 2013

EA have today announced that Crysis 3 is definitely coming and will land next year on the PC, 360 and PS3. There is no mention of a WiiU release, which is a likely indicator of the below-par performance of Nintendo’s next machine. The third game in Crytek’s series will put you in the boots of ‘Prophet’ in New York city in 2047, though as you might be able to tell from the screenshots, New York isn’t quite as it seems.

Dishonored – New Screens Galore

Dishonored – New Screens Galore

A host of new screen have been released today showing off Arkane Studios’ Dishonored, a title which I’ve been quietly keeping tabs on since I saw the first concept art emerge last year. The game is set in an industrial whaling city with a mix of high technology and mysticism known as Dunwall. You will play as a supernatural assassin in Dishonored and there is promised to be a very flexible combat system which will allow you to mix stealth, supernatural powers and brute force to achieve your goals.

The world has been created by Half-Life 2 art director Viktor Antonov, and the visual similarities with City 17 are subtle but noticeable. I also get a sense of inspiration from Fable III in some of the screen shots, maybe that is just me though. Assassin’s Creed 3 Debut Trailer

Assassin’s Creed 3 Debut Trailer

We all knew the basics of Assassin’s Creed 3 last week, but with this debut trailer we now have some action of the game that is going to be set in 18th Century North America. Assassin’s Creed 3 will put you in the boots of Ratohnaké:ton, an assassin of Native American and English heritage who goes by the easier to pronounce name of Connor.

The fifth main release in the series is going to use the all new Ubisoft-AnvilNext game engine and has twice the production values of any other Ubisoft title.

The game is locked in for release on the 31st of October this year for release on PC, 360 and PS3. A WiiU version is also in development.

Trine 2 – The Verdict

Trine 2 – The Verdict

The first Trine managed an impressive feat. Bringing back the magic of three way co-op from ye olde Blizzard title The Lost Vikings, and heaping on a heavy dose of fairy tale whimsy and magic, it was clever, charming and incredibly distinctive but lacked in one area: if you wanted to play it co-operatively, your friends had to be in the same room. With the sequel, Frozenbyte clearly had their first task all but (pardon the pun) spelled out for…

Far Cry 3 – All New Trailer

Far Cry 3 – All New Trailer

If I might say so myself, Far Cry 3 is looking quite splendid, and this brand new trailer only goes to show off what is going to be a personal must buy title when it is released this September. This new trailer shows the arrival of leading man Jason Brody to the tropical island that is the setting for the game and his initial interactions with the key antagonist, Vaas. Are you a Far Cry lover or hater?
