The debut trailer for Need for Speed: Shift has been released. If you want to see some fast cars racing dangerously close to each with more overtaking than we will see in the entire Formula 1 season then check out the trailer after the jump.

Shift is part of EA’s attempt to reignite the Need for Speed franchise and is the more serious of the three games that are being developed. The team working on Shift contains some guys from SimBin, developers of the excellent GT Legends and GTR 2.

Cars such as the Pagani Zonda and Porsche 911 GT2 will be featured in the game which is slated for a September 18 release in Europe with the US release a few days later. When announcing the release date Patrick Soderlund, Senior Vice President at EA Games Europe said:

“With Need for Speed SHIFT, we set out to create a racing game that pushes the genre and delivers something never before seen in a Need for Speed title. By focusing on the driver’s experience through the first-person view, we are able to capture the high-speed intensity and gripping emotions of racing.”
