While Chris was reviewing The Persistence, he made a passing comment that it wasn’t as terror inducing as the Shalebridge Cradle from Thief: Deadly Shadows. It sparked a conversation in our Discord about our time with Thief, and more specifically The Cradle. As good games journalists, we decided that sharing Our Tales of the Crade with a wider audience would be worthwhile.
Nvidia have found themselves in the news again with the issues surrounding the business of actually getting your hands on one of their new cards. The 3080 in particular has reportedly not had the best launch, with multiple outlets being hit by purchase bots (makes one wonder just how effective those ‘captcha’s’ are……) only for units to be appearing on auction-sites for ten-times the list price. Interestingly there do appear to be people that
insane, desperate, mad invested in the tech to be willing to pay those prices. Unless of course that’s all part of the con.
It’s a shame. A number of retailers and Nvidia themselves have published press-releases stating that they are working around the clock to ensure the orders go into the hands of people who are, you know, actually going to use their cards, down to and not excluding the possibility of chasing up each order one at a time to check it’s a genuine purchase. Their dedication is admirable but I don’t envy them that job.
I suppose, when you’ve just released what is arguably the biggest step forward in graphics technology this decade, coupled with an almost unbelievably low price-tag, you can bet they’ll want to get it right.

I’m sure most of us are experienced in one way or another with online multiplayer gaming and the highs and lows that go hand-in-hand when playing with other real people.
This week gamers have proven that community spirit still survives even in competetive enviroments when they banded together to eliminate a cheater in Fall Guys. This is just one example of many you can find on social media but it appears that until the developers implement better cheat detection, the community have got it sorted.
The love is even spreading to Escape From Tarkov where one PMC managed to heal a passing traveller (another PMC) and be on his merry way without a single shot being fired in each others direction, sacriledge!
It’s been another up and down week in the games industry. Nintendo held a surprise mini-Direct as a partner showcase which immediately led to fans calling for more first party goodness. The Epic Games vs Apple battle continued, meanwhile Ubisoft are yet again in the news for all the wrong reasons.
But we love videogames, and on we march with Our Week in Games. Read on…
This week, Epic Games and Apple have been embroiled in a pull no punches exciting legal battle over something called Fortnite.
To be honest, I’m not entirely sure what’s going on. I used an Apple once for about half an hour, wondering where all the buttons were. I’ve also never played Fortnite. With a full time job and two children I certainly don’t have time to try a battle royale that takes two weeks to play.
Apparently, from what I’ve heard, one of the megalithic companies with all of the money wants a slightly larger cut of money from the other megalithic company with all of the money, but the first megalithic company with all of the money wants to keep it.
So now you’re all caught up, here’s what we’ve all been up to.
As we celebrate our 10th Birthday here at Reticule Towers, we’re going to take a chance to look at our favourite games of the Reticule Years. There are few, if any, rules set for what we will write about. So hit the break, and see what we have chosen as Our Favourite Games of The Reticule Years. …
Is something news if we have already shared in on our Twitter? Who is even writing this post? I think we’ve passed the fourth wall and entered the dimension inhabited by Frozen Synapse 2. Today, this dimension is inhabited by delays (to make the game better!), new units (yay!) and a new game mode (double yay!). Do you dare step forth into this dimension to read a hurried breakdown of a delightful press release from Mode 7? You do? Hooray! …
