Eador: Master’s of the Broken World – Early Impressions

Eador: Master’s of the Broken World – Early Impressions

I’ve been squeezing in some time for a grand looking turn-based with RPG-features strategy game. Not a Heroes of Might and Magic game, but Eador: Master’s of the Broken World. I’ll simply refer to it as Eador from now on while I talk about some of my early impressions of this title which came from Steam Greenlight.

Don’t Starve – First Thoughts

Don’t Starve – First Thoughts

I survived 13 days, then I was killed by a bee. I was resurrected and returned to collect my gear…and I was killed by the same damn bee. The game at hand is Don’t Starve, and these are some of my first thoughts of the game.

BioShock infinite – What We Thought

BioShock infinite – What We Thought

BioShock is one of those game series’ that you really must play, you might not like every aspect of the game, but there is always something about them worth having a look at. The latest title is set in Columbia, the city in the clouds. There has been some very valid criticisms of the title, Leigh Alexander’s piece being a must read while I for one really quite enjoyed it despite the issues. After the break you can read the thoughts of a few of us here from The Reticule.

SimCity – Not A Verdict

SimCity – Not A Verdict

The words you are about to read might read like one of our Verdicts, but it isn’t. I don’t think I would be comfortable granting SimCity my Verdict just yet, and I might not ever grant it one. Thanks in part to EA and Maxis’ decision to make it an always-online game it has been one of the most controversial releases in recent years. Server issues, high price and in-game bugs have all contrived to damage the reputation of the franchise.

Getting Into The Heart of the Swarm

Getting Into The Heart of the Swarm

My experience of the StarCraft games has long been limited to the early levels of the first game, I don’t think I even got a quater of the way through the campaign. I was always more interested in titles like Red Alert 2 and so the different style of Blizzard’s seminal title didn’t quite grab me. I missed out on the release of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty for reasons unknown to me now, but I decided to grow up and take the plunge into the latest part of the StarCraft II journey with the Heart of the Swarm expansion.

Tomb Raider – Early Thoughts

Tomb Raider – Early Thoughts

I’ve played around seven hours of Tomb Raider so far and I feel like I am about a quarter of the way through the game. I might be wrong of course, but all I know is that so far I am really enjoying my time with the franchise reboot. I’ll be back with my Verdict over the weekend, but for now, I have some early thoughts following the break.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 – The Verdict

Euro Truck Simulator 2 – The Verdict

When I talk about what I am currently playing to my friends at work I often get some strange looks when I talk about what obscure game I am in the middle of. Over the past couple of weeks these looks have come about from Euro Truck Simulator 2, a game which I am not afraid to say I have actually been really quite enjoying. It isn’t the kind of game that would ever attain the famed Red Mist rating…

Diablo 3 – My First Hour

Diablo 3 – My First Hour

I got my hands on Diablo 3 earlier today, around 3pm GMT, and unlike many, I installed and got into the game without any problems at all. I was quite surprised at the lack of problems considering the many issues that people were having in the early hours of launch, and are still having tonight according to what I am seeing on Twitter. So, in the peaceful British May afternoon, I got to spend about an hour with Diablo 3,…

DiRT Showdown Demo Thoughts

DiRT Showdown Demo Thoughts

A demo was released the other day for DiRT: Showdown, the upcoming spin-off from the main series. Showdown is shaping up to be the arcade cousin of the DiRT titles with events like gymkhana and destruction derby at the fore. I’ve just had a little blast with the small demo on Steam, and I am not entirely sold on the concept.

PS Vita First Impressions

PS Vita First Impressions

My PS Vita arrived this morning, and while it is too early to deliver any hard and fast thoughts on it, I just want to take a moment to run down some early impressions of the new handheld that is going to be the talk of the town when it goes on retail release tomorrow. Thanks to some speedy Amazon dispatching and the Royal Mail, I got mine today, although I know there are others who have ordered with Play.com…
