New ‘The Evil Within’ Trailer Shows That Enemies Are Not Your Only Problem

New ‘The Evil Within’ Trailer Shows That Enemies Are Not Your Only Problem

This new trailer shows you just how devastating traps can be in The Evil Within, but also shows how you can turn them to your advantage. Some traps can be avoided and turned on enemies, others can be dismantled and used to create stronger weapons and ammo. One things for sure, you’re going to need to use your head just as much as your gun to survive.

Our Week In Games – Week 87

Our Week In Games – Week 87

Fresh back from a weeks holiday I feel as if my gaming interests have been reinvigorated. I bought a ton of games in the Steam sale and look forward to playing them all over the next… five years. In fact recently I’ve almost completely abandoned console gaming in place of hours on end of Spelunky and some multiplayer PC games, which just goes to show that the recent crop of game releases really hasn’t grabbed my attention quite as much as I thought it would. Thinking ahead the only two console games I’m remotely interested in are The Witcher 3 and Forza Horizon 2, while I’m spoilt for choice right now on PC. Oh how the times are changing.

Our Week in Games – Week 66

Our Week in Games – Week 66

I think the big news from the past week was the realisation of just how weak the Wii U has been performing at retail. Nintendo slashed the sales forecast of the machine drastically from 9 million to 2.8 million for this financial year. It is a sad turn of events, but not one that should be all that surprising. Not many people outside of the core gaming base fully understood what the Wii U offered, and the release of superlative titles like Super Mario 3D World seem to have done little to convince people to invest in the machine. In truth, I only purchased mine because I was able to get it for pennies after trading in my massive back catalogue of console games. At full price I was never going to realistically buy it.

Enough doom and gloom from Nintendo, what have we been up to this past week?

Editor’s Blog – Chris on the Console Generations

Editor’s Blog – Chris on the Console Generations

The next generation of consoles is here at last, well at least it is the US with the PlayStation 4 going on sale yesterday. Over the next few weeks, us lucky Brits will see Sony’s machine and the Xbox One from Microsoft launch. I was in Game in Cardiff a few nights past and saw the new look shelves heralding the imminent arrival of the new machines.

It made me think about the generation which is now the old-gen. The humble Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are but things of a bygone era now. In reality they will still be fairly important to gamers and the industry for a year or so yet as people wait for the inevitable price cuts or a wider range of titles to launch.

The Last of Us – Not a Verdict

The Last of Us – Not a Verdict

The Last of Us may be a good game. Many have declared it the greatest game ever, others have commented on its setting, its superb voice acting and the brutality that drives the plot ever onwards. And, as is becoming a frequent occurrence these days, I have an opinion on it. This is not a review however, I have not finished the game and I quite possibly never will. But I want to at least throw my grain of salt onto the scales of greatness and have my voice counted, even though it’s clearly attempting to swim against the current…

I don’t like it.

GTA V Gameplay Trailer Released

GTA V Gameplay Trailer Released

Rockstar and I are currently in the middle of a small domestic. Despite my adoration for all things GTA, the gaming giant is still refusing to tell me whether or not one of my favourite franchises is returning to the PC in the form of GTA V. Until I hear anything more positive on that front, I’m therefore temporarily forced to write about those console things instead.

E3 From the UK – Sony On Top…But Only For Now?

£349 and out before Christmas. With that, some might say the console war has been settled and that Sony have hands-down “won” E3 and deserve all the plaudits they are getting. But there are a few things which just slightly knock the gloss off Sony’s newly angular PlayStation 4. Take a journey through some musings on where problems might arise after the break.
