“We think Counter-Strike: Global-Offensive is the best version of Counter-Strike”. That is the bold statement from Valve’s Chet Faliszek about the upcoming shooter which is following twelve years of history. The Counter-Strike franchise is amongst the most played series of games on the PC, Counter-Strike 1.6 and its successor, Source both regularly find themselves at the very top of the Steam stats page.
Chris was at the Eurogamer Expo, and one of the biggest draws for him was the Battlefield 3 booth, this is his account of his hands on impressions of the game.

I have just come out of the Witcher 2 developer session at the Eurogamer Expo, and for me this one was the most interesting, we got some really good information about the upcoming release of version 2.0 for the PC as well as the 360 version of the game. Supermarkets, full of food and ever expanding into the entertainment sector they are becoming ever more aggressive in their video game pricing for the AAA releases. However, some of the recent deals highlighted by MCV for Gears of War 3 are something of a false deal.
In the past few years the trend for releasing classic old games in shiny new HD has risen dramatically. So too has the release of prequels to classic series like Halo and Deus Ex been on the rise. So why is the gaming industry taking us back to the start of the last generation of games? Is it a step back in development or a way to remember better times?
I say, safety cars appearing in an F1 game? That definitely gets a bit of a thumbs up from me, must wonder how F1 2011 will decide when a safety car needs to be deployed though. The new game has lots of fun features, hopefully I can get into it a bit easier than last years edition.
Dead Island has not had the smoothest of launches. From released developer builds, to the already infamous ‘Feminist Whore’ line of code discovered over at the Steam forums – the murmurings around the game have been somewhat controversial, destroying much of the goodwill earned by an astounding early trailer.
