A Game of Thrones meets Football Manager – Part 3 – Major Improvement

A Game of Thrones meets Football Manager – Part 3 – Major Improvement

This is Chris Evans’ story about trying to make a custom database for Football Manager 2013 with a very strong hint of A Game of Thrones. This is the third part of his blog charting his progress.

Would I have started this project if I knew quite how much effort it would take to get it to the stage it is at right now? I most certainly would, it is going to be so rewarding to play a long-term game in the Game of Thrones-themed world that I have created within Football Manager 2013. It isn’t all the way there, I haven’t played in-game with this version of the custom file enough yet to make sure everything is working as intended, and I haven’t touched any team logos yet which is going to be something which I might struggle to sort out. Anyway, the latest update on where things are is as follows.

A Game of Thrones Meets Football Manager – Making Progress

This is the second part of my journey into making a Game of Thrones based custom database for Football Manager 2013 (part one is here). It might be a bit of a monster job trying to re-create just a small portion of George R. R. Martin’s world within the game, but it is a challenge I am determined to meet, despite being a bit of a novice when it comes to using the Football Manager editor. In this part of my journey, I make some big progress with the league structure in Westeros, the land that used to known as Wales.

Every copy of Football Manager 2013 includes the game Editor, a powerful tool that you can use to heavily modify the database which drives the game. I recently had the hair-brained idea to try and re-create a tiny bit of the Game of Thrones universe within Football Manager. This is a tale of my adventure.

Game of Thrones MMO Gets ‘Seven Kingdoms’ Title

Game of Thrones MMO Gets ‘Seven Kingdoms’ Title

The singleplayer Game of Thrones RPG wasn’t too well received by Lily, but maybe the free-to-play, MMO will be. The Game of Thrones based MMO has today received its full title, Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms, not really an original name for anyone who knows the books or the TV show. At Comic-Con, July 12-15 a debut trailer will be released for the game which will take place after the deaths of King Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark and will feature PvP, siege combat and formation of alliances. After the disappointing solo game, is anyone still interested in this?

Game of Thrones – The Verdict

Game of Thrones – The Verdict

The land of Westeros. An island of lords and serfs, castles and whore houses. One fat and lusty king rules seven kingdoms which threaten to tear themselves apart at any minute if  endless hordes of wild folk, the walking dead and worse do not pour over a 500 foot-high Wall and destroy everything in their path first. And here I am walking from tedious cutscene to tedious cutscene and occasionally hitting men until they fall over.

This is the Game of Thrones ‘action adventure roleplaying game’ by Cyanide Studio. Confusion is understandable. So far there is this; the real-time-strategy game Game of Thrones: Genesis; a collectible card game; a living card game; and a board game (which is like Risk+ and is awesome, by the way).

GoT is set from a year before the beginning of the books/TV series up to about half way through the first book/season. It is an intertwining story of two primary characters: a Nights Watchman called Mors (he of the men who guard the gigantic wall of ice in the North) and Ser Alester, a knight of a minor house sworn to House Lannister and a red priest of R’yllor who has recently returned from a self-imposed exile across the sea. In the game’s fifteen chapters, control and story is alternated between the two characters.

Game of Thrones – New Screenshots

Focus Interactive have today released some new screenshots of their upcoming game based on the current hot property: Game of Thrones: Genesis. The strategy game, being developed by Blood Bowl developers Cyanide Studios, promises to take players “into the heart of the battles and intrigues between the Houses that shaped the Kingdom of Westeros.” Covering “more than 1000 years” of the history of the A Song of Fire & Ice Saga, we’re promised that victory will come from “more than…
