Dead Island: The Verdict

Dead Island: The Verdict

Dead Island has not had the smoothest of launches. From released developer builds, to the already infamous ‘Feminist Whore’ line of code discovered over at the Steam forums – the murmurings around the game have been somewhat controversial, destroying much of the goodwill earned by an astounding early trailer.

Serious Sam 3: BTE Trailer Shows Off 4-Player Split-Screen

Rich Knuckles, a fictional helpline attendant, has returned once again in the second episode in the series of promo videos for Serious Sam BTE. Much like the game promises to be, the new trailer is over-the-top, full of action and laced with a great sense of humour. In between bouts of Rich responding angrily to callers the video shows us more footage of the upcoming game including a few shots of the 4-player split screen mode.

Syndicate Indicated by EA

Syndicate Indicated by EA

After being accidentally outed via EA’s download service Origin, a whole new game in the cult Syndicate series has been formally announced and revealed to the world by EA today along with some all-important plot details and screens which you can find after the jump…

Hard Reset Demo Impressions

Hard Reset Demo Impressions

Hard Reset, it seems like a bit of an oddball really from the demo. It opens with a voiced over graphic novel style intro to provide some background to the story, then throws you straight into a futuristic world full of neon bright lights and stompy stompy robots. Which you then shoot. That seems to be it really.

Modern Warfare 3 – courting controversy

Modern Warfare 3 – courting controversy

This opinion piece isn’t exactly revelatory, or particularly original, but the subject is something that manages to annoy me and normally I’m as cool as a frozen cucumber when it comes to gaming stories, I generally pride myself on having a relatively developed sense of perspective.

Brink (PC) – The Verdict

Brink (PC) – The Verdict

Brink is an incredibly schizophrenic game in many ways. It wants to be an overarching, cutscene driven story about the struggles of the Ark on which the game takes place, yet simultaneously be a fast paced shooter with the quick pacing and instant gratification that multiplayer focused games need to entice players and keep them around. It wants to offer the character progression and unlockable skill mechanics of an RPG, while offering the fluidity of movement and freedom of traversing…

Medal of Honor: The Verdict

Medal of Honor: The Verdict

Medal of Honor is a game that is unsure about what it wants to be. Before release we were treated to numerous interviews from EA where they stated their primary intention was to recreate an authentic soldiering experience. Well from any military perspective that is clearly nonsense.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 – The Verdict

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 – The Verdict

As a concept, it shouldn’t work. A sequel to a game which was both a console exclusive and a single player focused iteration of a popular series gets a release on PC and turns out to be a serious competitor for Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer crown? It certainly helps that the pedigree of the larger series is that of course of one of the best loved multiplayer franchises for the PC in Battlefield, and DICE certainly remember their roots this…

Left 4 Dead 2 – The Verdict

Left 4 Dead 2 – The Verdict

Zombies. We get many zombie games these days. There’s so many approximations of storming the streets of Omaha during the early hours of Z-day out these days that it’s hard not wonder just what they’re all aiming at.

Shattered Horizon – The Verdict

Shattered Horizon – The Verdict

It’s probably not to Shattered Horizon‘s advantage that us fleshy meat bags need a large space-time bending rock to get on with life. Because I guarantee your first hours will mostly be characterized by long, silent “noooooo”‘s as you spin off starfish style into space, whether thanks to more skill endowed astro-bastards, or your own sheer incompetence.
