EGX 2017 Day Two Roundup

EGX 2017 Day Two Roundup

Day two of EX 2017 is done for me, and I think I’ve had a pretty decent show. While I haven’t seen many AAA games, I’m not too concerned about losing an hour or more of my life in a queue for a game that people will buy in their droves anyway. What has always interested is the indie games, and their certainly have been some gems on show this year.

Bomber Crew – Turning The Tension Up

Bomber Crew – Turning The Tension Up

War films of a certain era hold a special place in my heart. Films like The Longest Day and Mosquito Squadron were so exciting and nerve wracking. As a kid, the action sequences would have me on the edge of my seat with the tension. I finally relived that feeling at EGX while playing┬áBomber Crew from Runner Duck. It’s a strategic survival game where you take an RAF bomber to the skies during World War Two, guiding them to victory…or…

EGX 2017 Day One Roundup

EGX 2017 Day One Roundup

Day one of EGX 2017 is done! This year, I’m only doing two days at the show, any more would be excessive, especially as the ratio of games to other stuff seems more skewed to other stuff than ever before. e-Sports, Twitch and other gubbins take over the majority of the show floor, and in some ways games seem like an after though. But, it is EGX, and I’m doing my usual boots on the ground report of what I’ve…

EGX 2016 – Day Two Report

EGX 2016 – Day Two Report

Welcome to my Day Two report from EGX. My Day started by catching up on Thursday Night Football where my Patriots smashed the Texans. I’ve got Madden 17 at home and have been thoroughly enjoying it. You’re not here for the NFL talk though, you want my EGX hot takes! Read on dear readers…

EGX 2016 – Day One Report

EGX 2016 – Day One Report

As another September draws near an end, I make my annual pilgrimage to the Eurogamer Expo, or EGX as they like to call it these days. I’ve travelled to London in the past, and more recently, have made my way to the NEC in Birmingham. For this year’s edition of the show, I am present for two day’s, and right here, right now in Birmingham, England *cheap pop*, I am delivering my Day One Report. Read on…

EGX Hands On – Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

EGX Hands On – Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

When I was at EGX, I mentioned on Twitter that I hadn’t played anything from the Assassin’s Creed series since the high-seas action of Black Sails, but that was about to change as I was in the queue for Syndicate, the latest game in the series that will be taking us to Victorian London. I also took some fairly ropey photos of Ubisoft’s booth for the game, but that’s by-the-by. I played Syndicate at the show, not once, but twice….

EGX 2015 – Day Two Report

EGX 2015 – Day Two Report

Welcome to my Day Two report from EGX 2015. Today’s Report is brought to you by the power of Domino’s, Strongbow and Netflix. A hearty mix if I might say so myself. I dragged myself out of bed at a decent time today and was at the NEC by 10:15, and from there, my journey began…

EGX Hands On With The Escapists: The Walking Dead

EGX Hands On With The Escapists: The Walking Dead

I was walking around the Rezzed section at EGX today, checking out all of the latest hip, cool and new indie games, when amongst the hordes of humanity, one little game stood out. Loud and proud, it proclaimed itself to be The Escapists: The Walking Dead. What was this I wondered? Could it possibly be some tie-in between The Escapists, a 8-bit pixel-art game about escaping from prisons (that I have woefully failed to write about) and The Walking Dead…

EXG 2015 – Day One Report

EXG 2015 – Day One Report

This year, the biggest annual gaming show in Britain has moved. No longer am I travelling down the M4 to visit EGX in Earl’s Court in London while staying in a rip-off hotel. This time, I have travelled up the M5 to the NEC in Birmingham while crashing with some family. Bit of a difference I must say, but it means that I can sit here on my netbook with a can of Strongbow and the New Zealand v Namibia match in the Rugby World Cup.

My visit this year will last until mid-afternoon Saturday. One reason for not doing the full four days is that I want to be back in Wales to watch Saturday’s massive World Cup fixture as Wales take on England. Now that I’ve bored you all to the high heavens with logistics and rugby, I’ll proceed with the my Day One report.

EGX 2014 Game of the Show

EGX 2014 Game of the Show

I had a splendid time at EGX this year at Earl’s Court, and despite referring to it as the Eurogamer Expo all week, I was happy to be there and impressed with what I saw. There were a few games which might have made it as my Game of the Show, but for one reason or another, they just didn’t quite do enough to convince me. My Game of the Show surprised even myself, but it was the one which…

Eurogamer Expo 2014 – Day One

Eurogamer Expo 2014 – Day One

Day one of my experience at the Eurogamer Expo is in the bag, and it has been something of a long day. I was on a bus from my flat at 10am to the city centre to get a National Express coach at 11am over to London. On arrival in London I took a walk to my hotel and was checked in by 2.30pm and walked into Earl’s Court for my first day at the show.

Eurogamer Expo – Viiiiiiiiiiiitaaaaaaa!

Eurogamer Expo – Viiiiiiiiiiiitaaaaaaa!

Earlier this year I sold my PlayStation Vita to a friend at work. I reasoned that I wasn’t playing it at all, the money would come in handy and it would be better off with someone who might use it. After having digested some of what I saw at the Eurogamer Expo, I can safely say that I will be looking to buy a Vita again quite soon.
