Destiny 2 – The Verdict

Destiny 2 – The Verdict

It’s strange to think it was three years ago when Steve and myself first shared Our Thoughts on Destiny the First, and two years since I decided that The Taken King had gone a long way towards tidying up some of the rough edges from the base game. Now, here we are and Destiny 2 is part of our world, and I love it. Bungie have learn from what made The Taken King so good, and created a wondrous game.

The Taken King Gets a Launch Trailer

The Taken King Gets a Launch Trailer

It always seems odd to me when a launch trailer is released for a game more than a handful of days from release. Even more so when said trailer comes a full two weeks ahead of the launch of the game. Yet I still tend to watch them, out of an ingrained curiosity and the chance to get a glimpse (after all the other trailers that have already been and gone) of the action one last time before launch. If there is one thing that will get me more excited to see a launch trailer than normal though, it is when you read that the trailer is backed up by a great rock song. So here we are with the launch trailer for The Taken King, the upcoming massive expansion for Destiny, backed up by the mighty Black Dog by Led Zeppelin.

Our Year in Games – Part Four

Our Year in Games – Part Four

As we roll ever closer to Christmas, we have one last edition of Our Year in Games to share with you before we bring you Our Games of the Year on Christmas Day. If you’re reading that on Christmas Day, then you don’t have enough Christmas dinner to eat. With that, let us move on with Our Year in Games…

Destiny – Expanding December 9th

Destiny – Expanding December 9th

It is somewhat strange for me to realise that I haven’t played Destiny for a couple of weeks. A game that I adore, but has slipped behind my current playing schedule thanks to the need to actually…you know…review games. While I haven’t touched it recently, I will be planning to make my way back on December 9th as the first expansion, The Dark Below will be launching.

Our Week in Games – Week 101

Our Week in Games – Week 101

Welcome to another edition of Our Week in Games here at Reticule Towers. It has been an interesting week as we figure out what, if any, response we will have to the ongoing ‘Gate’ incident that is taking place within gaming culture. We have decided that on some occasions, it is better to stay away from the fire rather than stick our hands in it. I will say this though; there are numerous sides to the initial argument over journalistic…

Our Week In Games – Week 99

Our Week In Games – Week 99

One of the most intriguing things of the past week was the announcement from Microsoft that their next operating system won’t be labelled Windows 9, but rather will be known as Windows 10. For one, it shows that Microsoft aren’t afraid of throwing naming and numbering conventions out of the window (just look at the Xbox One), but the more important thing to keep in mind is that the new platform will ship with DirectX 12. You can find the details on that here, but I wonder how that might play into Kevin’s PC-rebuild project.

Elsewhere saw the launch of Shadow of Mordor which seems to have been receiving many plaudits around the gaming world. I haven’t played it yet, but I know that I should be. Further to that, we have Alien: Isolation launching on Tuesday. Anyone ready to change their underwear a bit more than normal?

Destiny – Our Thoughts

Destiny – Our Thoughts

There is a game known as Destiny which launched recently on the consoles, but unfortunately not on the PC. It is an MMO-FPS-RPG and also a single-player FPS-RPG. There are competitive multiplayer FPS elements thrown in for good measure. Destiny then, what are our thoughts?

Our Week in Games – Week 97

Our Week in Games – Week 97

The most interesting aspect of the past week was a little video from nVidia where they achieve two things. They manage to show off their new Maxwell and VXGI technology and they also debunked some of the conspiracy theories surrounding the moon landings. The video (after the break) is slightly heavy on the tech-talk, but is also filled with some lovely footage of nVidia’s version of the moon landing along with some wonderful footage and photos of the real event. Great stuff.

Destiny Goes Google Maps Crazy

Destiny Goes Google Maps Crazy

Have you ever wanted to explore other planets through Google maps but have been frustrated by how long it takes the incredible Mars Curiosity rover to traverse the alien world? Well now you have a chance to get a glimpse at what our solar system will look like in the world of Destiny. Bungie have teamed up with Google to create an innovative site where you can explore the planets of Destiny. It sounds a bit gimicky, but if you…

Destiny Draws Near – A Preview of Sorts

Destiny Draws Near – A Preview of Sorts

There is something to be said for buying into the new crop of consoles just a few days too late, it means that some things get to be a bigger surprise than you expected. You see, when I bought my PlayStation 4, the last Destiny public test had just come and I missed by chance to take part. To be honest though, I hadn’t really been keeping tabs on Bungie’s big break away from the Halo franchise. I wasn’t planning on buying into the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 until Christmas at the earliest, and so I hadn’t been tracking half of the new generation of console titles like I should have been.

For Destiny, that all changes right now.
