The Indie Gaming Roundup – Democracy, Scram Kitty and More
Last weeks Indie Gaming Roundup was heavy on action and intrigue, but sorely lacking in politics and cats. I’ve taken it upon myself to right those wrongs, right here, right now.

I know what this country needs, it needs me as Prime Minister. Well, if my time with Democracy 3 is anything to go by that is certainly true.
I’ve only ever done a handful of face-to-face interviews in my adventures here on The Reticule and most of them have gone ok, but certainly not great. At the Rezzed show in June I was taking a peak at the Democracy 3 and RedShirt stand and happened to see a face I recognised from Twitter and his blog, it was Cliff Harris, the man behind Positech Interactive.
Take Facebook and Twitter and throw them into a game rather than making games for them and what do you get? Redshirt is the answer with Spacebook at its core. This will be the upcoming first commercial relase from The Tiniest Shark, one woman UK indie dev with Mitu Khandaker leading the way.
Cliff Harris of Positch Games has today announced his next game, Democracy 3 which will be released sometime this year. Early rumblings are that several famous politicians will be eager to get their hands on the game so they can learn how to actually do their jobs. Bit more after the break, (but thankfully no more lame political jokes – joke Ed)
If the past 30 years of games have taught us anything it is that war is fun. Yet actual conflict teaches us that war is hell. How do we square these two opposing results? With Positech “Cliff “Cliffski” Harris” Games’ latest release, Gratuitous Tank Battles.
There was recently a big sale on at Show Me The Games, the indie games portal set up by Positech’s Cliff Harris. I was keen to find out how the sale had gone, and how the site is doing. Hit the jump for Cliff’s thoughts.
Good old Cliff Harris shows off some Gratuitous Tank Battles in this new developer diary and tries to describe what kind of game it is. Tower defence, or something a bit different? Watch and enjoy.
Indie games portal Show Me The Games is currently running a huge two week sale with a whole heap of great indie games available for half price. The brain behind Show Me The Games, Positech’s Cliff Harris describes the event with such words as these:
“Today marks the first day of the first two-week ‘Show Me The Sales’ promotion!
Hosted by the online indie game database at www.showmethegames.com, ‘Show Me The Sales’ is a collection of indie game developers who are each offering substantial discounts on their games over the next two weeks. Unlike any other games bundle or sale, SMTS is a collection of sales hosted directly by the developers, acting just as a directory of discounts, so you still buy the game direct from the individual developer, and the developer gets to keep all of the money.
Just to emphasise that, ShowMeTheGames takes NOTHING from any of the sales, or the developers.”
If you want to get titles such as VVVVVV!, AI War: Fleet Command and Gratuitous Space Battles! at great prices, just head here.
Earlier this week we previewed Gratuitous Tank Battles, the upcoming game from Positech Games. Today, you can read the full interview with Cliff covering the multiplayer component of the game, Cliff’s love of tanks and more. The Reticule – Why did you decide to carry on with the same game style as Gratuitous Space Battles? Cliff Harris – I always think my games are best when I make exactly the game I want to make. I really enjoyed making GSB,…
