I’ve talked at length about Behold The Kickmen in the past, and it’s finally here! Well, available over on yonder Steam for the bargain basement price of £2.79! It’s a truly majestic little game that Dan Marshall has made, one that perfectly simulates the game of football*
Big news for all of those of you who want to behold kickmen as Behold the Kickmen, coming from Size Five Games’ Dan Marshall, will be released on July 17th. That’s not far away for all of your beholding to start taking place. In typical Trump Dan Marshall fashion, he confirmed the release date on Twitter. Fitting, as Kickmen was “born of out Twitter nonsense”.
If you haven’t heard yet, there’s a hardcore football simulator coming out in the nebulous “soon”, and it goes by the name Behold the Kickmen. I even interviewed the developer, Dan Marshall back in the summer when all things were bright and beautiful. It’s something of a shock then to see that Dan is including a new mode in Kickmen which betrays the ultra-hardcore, extremely realistic simulation style of the game. The new mode – Dystopian Future BloodSport Mode.
Yesterday, our massive preview of Behold the Kickmen was published. Today, you can read the full Q&A I had with indie developer and brains behind Kickmen, Dan Marshall. Hit the break to find out more about what inspired Dan to make the game, how the Story mode works, and what advice he has for other indies out there. Enjoy!
What happens when someone who professes not to have looked at anything football related since the Panini sticker album for Mexico 86, decides to make a football game? You get Behold The Kickmen, the upcoming game from Dan Marshall, the brains behind Ben There, Dan That!, Gun Monkeys and The Swindle.
I love football, I think it is one of the finest sports in all the land. I’m not that good at it mind, neither playing the game with a ball, or playing with a gamepad. The prospect of a football game that I can play, and looks fun to watch? That’s something which has me interested. Behold, Behold The Kickmen, the upcoming football game from indie stalwart, Dan Marshall.
