Towns 0.38 Released

Towns 0.38 Released

Lewis was very keen on Towns when he previewed it and when he interviewed Alex Poysky who works on the game. SMP Team have now released version 3.8 which makes a few interesting sounding changes to the game.

There are quite a few things to look forward to in 0.38, among them being the new APS (automated production system).
This system will solve all food-related problems and automate the system. You will be able to set the minimum and current amounts of any type of food now! Hopefully this will eliminate any hunger spirals of doom!

There is a whole slew of new content as well, from bone-related materials to more than double the weapons! We have been hard at work and hope you enjoy this patch

Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand – Early Thoughts

Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand – Early Thoughts

The Back to Karkand DLC for Battlefield 3 hit the PC and 360 yesterday while PS3 owners got it last week. (damn exclusivity deals) If you pre-ordered the game you will get free access to the pack which re-imagines four maps from the brilliant Battlefield 2 and also throws in a handful of new unlockable weapons and some new vehicles to play with. If you didn’t pre-order you can get the DLC for £11.99. A steep price, but quite possibly worth it. Hit the jump for some thoughts.

Hitman: Absolution – New Trailer

Hitman: Absolution – New Trailer

At the Eurogamer Expo, Michael and I attended a developer session on Hitman: Absolution which blew me away. This new trailer has reminded me of how good this game might be. I’m hoping though that we don’t need to go in all guns blazing like in this trailer, I want to see some more of the sneaky sneaky action.

Chrome does Bastion

Chrome does Bastion

Word comes via RPS that Google’s web browser, Chrome, is now supporting the lovely indie game Bastion. You can launch the game right from your browser, I just had a quick play with the trial, and it feels very smooth and efficient, more so than when playing Bastion through OnLive. Will Chrome start growing to challenge platforms like OnLive? Too early to tell right now, but my experience of playing Bastion through Chrome was more enjoyable than playing it through OnLive. What do Google have up their sleeve I wonder?

DICE Make Good Patch Plans For Battlefield 3

DICE Make Good Patch Plans For Battlefield 3

DICE are releasing a mahoosive patch tomorrow for Battlefield 3 which is making some changes to the awful Tactical Light and fixes a problem where a TV guided missile could be shot into its own helicopter. The whole list is copy/pasted after the jump, but there is one upcoming change which I welcome with open arms.

“Our plan for the future is to introduce a warm-up mode, where players can move about and play the game, but with scoring disabled; then, when the number of players goes above the threshold — that’s when the real round starts.”

Sitting on a server with only a handful of players, not being able to do anything because you are being stuck in place is awful, and puts people off joining low populated servers. If this change is brought it, it will bring Battlefield 3 into line with Battlefield 2 where you could have as much fun as you wanted before the game started properly. This will be an ideal time for you to hop onto an empty server and practice your jet or helicopter flying. Full change list for tomorrow follows.
