A demo was released the other day for DiRT: Showdown, the upcoming spin-off from the main series. Showdown is shaping up to be the arcade cousin of the DiRT titles with events like gymkhana and destruction derby at the fore. I’ve just had a little blast with the small demo on Steam, and I am not entirely sold on the concept.
Although an incredible story, I couldn’t help but feel that the puzzles in Portal 2 lacked a certain finesse. Abandoning the streamlined approach of the original Portal might have provided Valve with the ability to tell a remarkable tale, but some fans, myself included, believed the difficulty of the puzzles had been reduced to increase pacing. On May 8th, Valve is due to release the Perpetual Testing Initiative update for Portal 2, at which point the internet will probably explode.

Mass Effect is on the horizon again and what better way to get worked up about saving the galaxy and making planet sized decisions with your favourite commander than to dig into the Mass Effect 3 demo.
